Ok... then where did I miss it on this site or the 20 other sites I lloked for it
-
yes u missed it. TMPGEnc is what you are looking for. it is THE converting program, especially for converting AVI/ASV/DivX->MPEG (VCD,SVCD) and for making DVDs into VCDs/SVCDs. and i dont know how u could missit unless u were looking on all the wrong sites. all major VCD/DVD sites i use have it and they admire it very much. (doom9, vcdhelp, dvd digest etc.)

I may be wrong, but most of the sites don't list it as being able to convert ASF/ASX files. They do however say that it will convert AVI as well as ASV files. I think you can see my confusion here.

When I was first looking to do this, just a few days ago, I was knee-deep in information from VCDHelp alone. It took 60 seconds to come up with the following:
Look here:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm
...and here...
http://www.geocities.com/myasftools/
...search for "ASF" on this page:
http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdtools.htm
...and finally...
From VCDHelp Forum Search, search for ASF in the Conversion forum (select 3 months ago).
