If I read your post right, you are not really describing a motion menu. Generally the motion is in the background with buttons or motion in a thumbnail thats a button. Sounds like you want to play a video clip, fade out to menu with buttons. Anyway, do a Google search on motion menus. There are a lot of programs that can do motion menus. Sonic, ULead, DVDLab, Encore etc... Not knowing what program you are using makes it difficult to help you.

With most software, you have only one choice for this. Create a clip with your menu fading in and make this your first play. Grab a still of the final frame from that clip, and make this your menu (or grap a cycling section of the intro clip). You will get a slight pause between the clip and the menu, so work your sound accordingly - fade out briefly or similar.
The only software I know of that will do what you are after is Scenarist (very expensive) or the latest beta (6) of DVD Lab Pro. You can effectively set a chapter stop in the clip after the menu text fades in and have this section function as the menu. You should still plan carefully for this, as you may still have to cycle the motion or move on to a still or alternate motion menu.
Check out the DVD Lab Pro beta as it is a free download for 30 days. You will find it in the tools section. -
thanks for replying
guns1inger, thats what i was thinkin about doing with it, just thought there might be a more obvious/easier way of doing it
i might give it a try tonight and see what happens cheers -
I'm pretty sure you can do this with DVDAuthorGUI. I would as mentioned earlier grab the last frame of the clip as the basis for the menu and then use that as a background layer for your menu. Then in an image editor, put a layer on top of that one that has the buttons. Save it all as an mpeg still and select it as a menu, after you add the intro clip and whatever other clips you want. Make sure you set the intro clip as first play then set it to go to the menu. That's all there is to it Hope this helps.
Have fun stormin' the castle!
RogThere are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.
