  1. I wish to encode VCD's at the fastest possible time - something like 15 minutes or so for 1 hour Video. It is possible by sharing the work across many computers across a LAN?

    It may not be possible to mention all the details. Just posting the link will do. Please note - I am conversant only with Win95/98/Me/2000/XP and Red Hat linux.

    The fastest mpeg1/VCD encoding software I've ever used is XMPEG together with Cinemacraft plugin. On my machine 3.2 ghz Athlon I can encode a DVD to VCD (90 mins running time) in about 30 mins.

    I think you're talking about distributed computing... I don't know much, but a google search will probably reveal a wealth of info about that.

  4. Exactly I meant Distributed Computing. I will follow your advice of searching through google. If anybody has any other comment/help in the article, I request them to share their ideas.

    Is Distributed Computing a bad idea for Video Encoding? If not why there has been no post about it? Any idea?
