I have been trying to view a XVID avi video file, yet the audio is grossly out of sync. The audio precedes the action by 2-3 seconds (maybe even more). The situation has not occurred to me in the past. But XVID videos tend to give the most problems and frustrations.

AVIcodec tells me that the video codec is XVID Mpeg-4; and the audio codec is AC-3ACM. I have tried every media player on my system with the same result (WMP v9, RealPlayer v10, ZoomPlayer, WinAMP v5, CyberDVD v5.0).

I have downloaded and install the ac3filter .70b, xvid 1.0.09052004, vobSub 2.23, and ffshow-20020617. In addition, I configured ac3filter to timeshift the audio with no avail. In fact, changes AC3filter property panel do not seem to apply to the video/audio playback. It seems defunct.

My system handles most other video playback without much effort (DVD, SVCD, VCD, mpeg, and even Daemon mounted videos). So I really doubt that the system is the bottleneck point. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Until then, I’ll avoid XVID videos altogether.

Probably a badly made XviD. Only soution is to separate audio and video tracks and reinterleave them again (with the proper skew).

Use YAAI to adjust the A/V sync. If you get and error about 'pins not connected' download the latest Xvid de-compressor from the Xvid download site.
