There is not solution.
We ALL lie, cheat and steal
Some more than others
Basic human morality has not changed in recored history
We limit our actions based on fear of reaction, physical, social, economical
If the precieved "reward" of an action is greater than the precieved "price" then we act accordingly
Think about any decision or action that you make, really think about it, if you are honest with yourself you will admit that you only do those things that will benifet yourself. That benifet may be indirect and hidden by layers of other stuff, BUT IT IS THERE, no exception

Windoz was probably the most pirated software in the world. Look how much money it made for it's founder. He seems to only just begun more aggressive measures to protect his software with XP. I noticed the stock price seemed to have dropped after these new measures.

"flaninacupboard" is right I said the same thing's in the past. one make the disc bigger in size so it will not fit in a PC DVD drive. Holly Wood should make and patten technology so one the work station the Holly wood companies can use to make thee disc. Nintendo is very good at protection there software.

I have a couple of friends with Mario Double dash on their PC. I'm sure it had taken a while to do, but it's been done.

I would report to the authorities of any public ‘piracy’ if I can do it.
I’ve heard stories of DVD pirates at market places or at such public places where they can sell something.
They can be selling pirated CDs and pirated brand name merchandise as well.
I also heard that some sellers of fraud have been caught, brought to the legal system and as a result of a heavy fine to them.
Some prosecuted by the copyright owners, such as DJs of radio stations using pirated music and they have to fork out thousands of dollars on copyright violation. I think this was on Sony music?
I know of one radio station in Sydney downloading a song just to be first to play a new single. I don’t think this would be legal either?
This was reported somewhere too on radio stations doing things like that violating music copyright.
I’ve also seen reports locally of warehouse sales of pirated merchandise and labeled clothing so cheap, ripping off the customers on inferior items.
The counterfeit do look as the real thing as the customer can be fooled of thinking of a real sunglasses, real brand pair of jeans and real expensive brand name perfume and so on.
The customer could be thinking of saving a lot of money and in fact be cheated by the crooks to make money.
They are also cheating on the ‘big names’ by the millions worldwide and they must be caught for selling counterfeit to deceive the real thing. They must be fined and jailed.I am a computer and movie addict -

I honestly don't think the 2 can equate to each other. I know both are going to be tough to stop and it's going to be near impossible to stop all of it for any period of time. However, drugs are something that cause physical harm to people and DVD pirating is something that does harm to what? A movie business? Not an actor. Only a very small few or actors have contracts that allow a very very tiny portion of receipt sales to go to the actor. The actors usually get paid up front, do the movie, and then do publicity appearances for extra cash or according to part of their contract. Other than the initial $$millions, they get squat. Drugs are something I think there should be a continued fight for. Piracy of songs and movies, just go after people loosely and charge fines for big offenders. If there's someone at a flee market selling burned copies for $10 in mass quantities, then I feel that should be taken down because the guy is stupid doing it out in open public. But if it's someone making back-ups or making a copy for 2 or 3 of his friends, what are you going to do?

Can't end piracy as long as 'greed' exists - greed on part of the pirates about making a quick buck; greed on part of consumers in an attempt to save a few bucks.
However, lowering the cost of goods might help in reducing piracy. People will realize that spending a little more but having genuine stuff and quality pays off in the long run.
I am always of the firm opinion that - when you buy quality you will cry once only. I own that, I had purchased a pirated DVD of 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' (no menus or extras). 95% of the movie quality was good but I was so annoyed with the 5%. I purchased the original after that and agred to myself that I shall never do it again.
