I have captured some video from a SonyDVCam DSR-20 into AVI files using Windows Movie maker.
I would like to use VirtualDub to manipulate those videos in a batch process (need to crop, resize, and compress about 20 files, 10 minutes each).
the problem is that I can't open the raw AVI files. This problem goes away if I first process the AVI files using Graphedit (just save with a mux and filewriter) and then manipulate the processed files. But that means that I have to convert all of my movies manually in GraphEdit... which will take me a long time.
Can you give me any ideas how to open the AVI files directly from AVISynth and then VirtualDub?
I have seen something in the AVIabout using AVISynth to open grf files, but I am not able to get it to work either.
Thanks for any ideas you might have.

There are two known ways to open AVI files, the first is with AVISource, the second with DirectShowSource. Try these two first. Also, make sure you have a DV codec installed.

I installed a DV codec from
http://www.free-codecs.com/donload/Panasonic_DV_Codec.htm
Any suggestions of 'better' or competing DV codecs? if such a thing exists...
Thanks a lot!
You've saved me a lot of manual labor. I appreciate it.
