  1. Hi

I am using a AIW8500DV, and have recently got a new system which has the power to do video capture.

I had a look at some of the guides, and last night tried to capture a 352x480 mpeg2. The result was skip free, and nicely synced, but the quality of the picture (both to watch whilst recording, and after) was noisy.

I tried ATI videosoap to clean it up but it really isnt to great to watch even on my TV set.

I used to experiment with PowerVCR2, and got a reasonable picture with its noise filter, but it will not capture at 352x480 which seems to be everyones recommendation for TV captures.

Any ideas on software that will not only let me capture at the correct resolution but that also has an easy to use filter system that will clean up the not so impressive cable performance.

Any help is appreciated, so that I can make these captures watchable.

    Thanks

    Jason

#1 fix is to use better cables.

  3. I started with standard Co-axial, then moved onto the phono style connectors using the ATI dongle to connect in, but it does seem to improve.

Also tried putting a VCR inbetween and using that as the tuner.

    No better.

Would perhaps a signal amplifier help?

Yes. Coax signal is noisy. Remember you see more noise on card than on tv, but signal the same. Tv just not as clear as monitor.
