  1. Is there a way to get image files from a VCD file? If so, based on a 774MB file, how large would the image file be? Originally I was trying to put several VCD files onto a DVD RW or R disk, but getting no where with that idea, so thought perhaps image files would work better.

If the above is not feasible, what about re converting the VCD files to be able to put several on a DVD disk? This would seem to be double work, but I am open to any suggestions at this point in time.

I would also like to know where I could post a question concerning compatible software with a DVD burner. The mfg has not been very helpful, neither has the software vendor. In order to get my questions answered I would need to be able to use the names of the mfg and vendor.

    Thank you

  3. That is correct. I have several VCD's that are sequences and to save space, etc. I would like to put them all on one DVD.

If you use TMPGEnc, you might want to check out the KDVD specs. They say you'll get 6 hours (Full D1) and ~10 hours (Half D1). I haven't tried using one of these templates, but I've heard they work well.

You can also let your DVD Authoring program do the re-encoding for you. I use Ulead DVD Workshop 3, and it has many options to re-encode your video. Of course, this method takes a long time to author (especially for many hours), but it's kinda the easiest way to do it. If you do use this method, check out this discussion, to help you choose your best encoding resolution/bitrate options:

  6. I have Dl a trial copy of TMPGenc DVD Author, so far using it is getting me no where. I followed the link in message from Baldrick, and not sure that is what I really need. I have these VCD movies on my computer and want to put them on a DVD disk to play in DVD recorder. If I read things right in that link it tells how to transfer a VCD disk back onto computer.

I have managed to get these VCD movies on a DVD with my burning software, but while they play on computer, which tells me they are on the disk, they do not play on the recorder. Yes, the recorder will play DVD R RW CD R etc.

I think I am just missing a step somewhere, and hope that with the above info, which may clerify things a little, I can get pointed in right direction.

    Thanks

  7. I have managed to use DVD Author, got the files done and burned to disk, but I have a problem, no audio. Everything else is perfect, DVD Player reads files, etc. I have printed out all 71 pages of the help file, but just can't seem to figure out how to get audio. Original files were fine, just lost audio in authoring. Thanks
