I'm authoring in TMPgenc DVD Author, but when I try to burn my files in ISO / UDF Mode in NERO Burning rom I get this message "You have added DVD video content to a compilation type that will not result in a DVD-Video compliant disc. To create discs playable in standalone DVD-Video players, please use the DVD-Video compilation type"

I can use the DVD-Video compilation type with no problems, but TMPGenc states that if you burn authored files with Nero you should select "ISO / UDF" and check the force video compatibility box. Even doing that I still get the error message although NERO does burn the disc. On top of that ISO / UDF1.02 is said to be best for compatibility with standalone players.

I'm using Nero burning ROM 6.0.0.23 and wanted to burn in ISO mode as I will be sending out DVD-Rs and need as much compatibility as possible.

  2. Update your Nero
    ftp://ftp9.us.nero.com/nero63117.exe

And do yourself a favour by choosing the DVD-Video option in Nero Express or Nero Burning Rom

Thanks, I'll do that update. Could you explain why you recommend dvd-video option?? I done a lot of searches on this site and seen the ISO / UDF recommended as the most compatible and that's what worries me.

I believe those UDF-ISO problems have been fixed and you can't go wrong by using DVD-Video templ. Just put all your VOBs, IFOs, BUPs in the VIDEO_TS folder generated by Nero and burn.

Let me echo what Tompika said: Use DVD-Video option in Nero Express. It is absolutely the simplest, most foolproof method of burning DVDs that I know of. I have burned at least fifty DVDs using this method and never had a problem with any of them.

However, if you insist on using ISO mode and Nero doesn't work for you, try DVD Decrypter. That should work fine.

You see what convinced me of the ISO UDF method was someone who posted like you and said he had done hundreds of DVDs using that method and never had a compatibility problem.

I'm not insisting on anything. If DVD-Video is best then I'm happy to use that. I mean i don't know what the chances are of a DVD-Video DVD-R burned in NERO not working in a standalone when an ISO burned DVD would, but I'd like to know.

OK, Could I do this instead. Burn with NERO in DVD-Video mode and then duplicate my DVDs with Decrypter in ISO mode thus giving me ISO / UDF compatibility??

I am guessing that Decrypter is using ISO / UDF 1.02 the same as Nero, but if I'm wrong I'll be even more confused.
