Hey folks, this post is somewhat similar to the "Who Has the Coolest Computer" thread where we all compared computer systems, but this time im not focusing on the computer-- here I am focusing on video workstation setups on where you do your capturing/editing work. Does anyone have an interesting video workstation that you may wish to post here? Doesnt have to be perfect of course. Im thinking of changing my current setup once i get the rest of the equipment I need so generating some ideas can help. Thanks!

Hmm, my video workstation consists of a dvd burner, a pile of blank dvds and cds, a pile of dvd cases, and some labels lying around.

Nope, I spin the disc by hand and scratch the information in with a pin.
I just press twice as hard on the pin to make a dual layer disc.

Now seriously folks. Mr. Videotech Man is wanting real input, not the usual OT malarky!!

Although -- did he really expect anything else from the OT crowd? ...

Well, far be it from us to disappoint!!

  6. I'm as boring as it gets I'm afraid. I got a 1.7GHZ (@2.0GHZ) celeron computer with a total of 120GB storage space between 3 drives. I have a simple wintv card and a Plextor PX-708A (currently RMA'd). I use three different VCRs: Sony SLV-700HF, Sony SLV-575UC and a Japanese market Toshiba SVHS unit with a built in TBC. I use virtualvcr to capture, virtualdub mpeg-2/ac3 to edit. I don't do much in the way of filtering my stuff. I tinkered around with it and was just never satisfied with my filters (removed detail). I make mostly 352x480 res DVDs.

Here's the Capmaster capping station. It sits in a corner of the master bedroom. I just replaced the PC last weekend. Love that LCD!

On the shelf is the VCR, on top of that is the TBC, and on that is the Snazzi USB capture box. Just partially in the pic in the lower right is my work laptop for telecommuting.
