I don't know about anyone else, but speed is not nearly as important to me as quality. You can make the programs run faster until they turn your processor into a steaming pool of goo, but the end question is something like "Am I better off?". Given what the quality of fast backups is often like, I'm generally inclined to take the extra time to make sure it looks alright.

Well, I'm looking forward to hear your opinions about v3.2 new features (especially the new "Quality Options").

Thanks for the positive feedback, madmoose, it is trully appreciated.
I'd like to take the opportunity to thank the whole beta-testers team, without whom dvdshrink's work might not have been as fruitful. -
im doing Superman 1 at 64 % compression with all quality settings on. I´LL post later

DL'd it a couple of hours ago, tried on two DVDs and I'm impressed. Very quick and it still burns with my favorite burner program, DVDDecrypter.
I Set it up to leave an ISO on my HD in case of a bad media burn.

How come after replacing a title with the still image option, the file size is so much larger than the still image? Is shrink turning the still into a movie?
For instance, I checked the estimated size of the "still pictures" option for a title. It was 17 megs.
But the still image option was 16 megs.I don't have a bad attitude...

Backing up Starsky & Hutch right now on my desktop (on laptop w/ wi-fi right now). I'm using the quality settings as I want it rather than the speed. I set it to burn w/ DVDDecrypter myself.

I´m watching the Superman backup, and i must say that the image is a lot more pleasant to the eyes. The artifact are there, but they are hidden really nice.
. Besides the "bumping" effect is really less noticeable.
I use the default settings for the quality, now i´m gonna "play" a little with other settings.
THANKS to everyone behind DVD SHRINK development. -
I'll post more of what I think when I have the occasion to shrink something onto a 4.35 gig disc. At the moment, I have decided that if my total compression needed is more than 70% after I remove the unnecessary dubs or subtitles, I will just use DL media (I've found a source, albeit an expensive one, in this country). But I'm glad the decision has been made to add new features to the program.

I just made a backup of X-Men 2 with the smoothing options turned off, compressed to 57%. There are some moments when you can see very visible MPEG artefacts, such as the first shot of the helicopters during the mansion attack, but I expected that. The more important stuff, like Colussus turning to steel or Wolverine taking out the soldiers, is virtually indstinguishable from the original, even to my eyes. Maybe I don't need to use DL media anymore... (although with source material as bad as The Godfather, I don't expect the same luck).
