  1. can someone please tell why i can play a certain copy of a movie example troy on my sons philips 710 using princo and ridisk, and when i copy another movie example cold mountain on the same disks it won't work only certain movies work

  4. If all settings are the same and your using the same hardware to copy my guess would be the media. If you can try burning at a slower speed or maybe different media.

    It would seem that you may have encountered a couple of bad disks. I have not known the movie itself to cause playback problems - more likely the burner crapped out or the media was dodgy.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Or maybe becasue you're trying to burn Troy, which is still in theatres, and is therefore warez.

    try making sure that the final size of the DVD is at least 4GB or more. My Philips 711 will NOT play DVD less than 4GB...just says "no disc". Look in the "DVD Players" list over there on the left, and read some of the issues that people have with your particular model.
