k, i did that, but (lol let me try to explain this) when i switched me DVD player and my burner. The burner just did the same didnt come up ext. However, my DVD player also did the same thing. It didnt show up ext...I did check for new hardware 2. Also, restarted? so could maybe the connecter's be bad and also the burner? Or did i do somthing wrong when i switched them? I have them back to the right places and my DVD player works now. Any help would be nice

Have you checked the jumpers on the drives?
The computer might be confused when you switch.
Why do you have a player and a burner in your computer when your burner will play and rip as well? -
Yes, slave and master. Most all drives have a diagram on the top or bottom of the drive to show the jumper settings. If not, go to the manufacturers site and they should have them. The jumpers are on the rear of the drives.
