  1. Hello,

I need the help of the conversion experts here.
Lately I've been coverting my avi collection and burning it as DVD
and everything goes well cept the fact that the subtitles at times get cut off at the edge of the tv.

    Here's what I use:

    TmpGenc 2.521
and video arrange method is Center(keep aspect ratio).

I know it's a nitpick type of thing but the DVD's I make are perfection.

Any tips would really be appreciated =)

Question: Are the AVI subtitles embedded, as in part of the MPEG file before you encode them, or do you add the subtitles as a last step?
    Hello.

  3. The subtitles were already embedded. I've tried everything but the problem remains.

    Any tips would be helpful.

  4. Can you still see the subtitles after the conversion to d1/d2?. Are they only missing once you have authored the dvd and watch the material via stand alone dvd player. Also what aspect ratio are you using? 4:3 or 16:9? You could try using the "custom centre" feature on tmpgenc 2.51 and resize the picture inside the d1/d2 specs. I dont know iam a n00b , anyway let me know what you did

  5. Hi,

the subtitles were embedded in some .avi files and after I convert them to dvd spec mpeg the subtitles are still there but they are cut off at the sides. Like this, "his is a real proble" instead of "this is a real problem".

I've played with the center keep aspect ratio but not custom center. What should I put in there?

You may want to try AviSynth's AddBorder command to make sure all of your movie is displayed.

  7. Thanks for all your help,

I've been playing with avisynth and figured it out.
So if I add a 16 pixel border on all sides then the dvd
and subtitles will fit all TV's. Is there any way to automate the
avisynth and do a group of files instead of a single?
