Greetings,
I'm having some troubles, lately, getting my output video to the appropriate size for viewing on a television.
No matter which converter I use (Currently using WinAVI), the output video is too large from the screen; i.e., my video which had subtitles in the RAW AVI file are half hidden at the bottom of the screen.
Is there ANYTHING I can do about this?

It's not too large, it's the TV. It's normal, and it's called overscan. Every TV cuts off some of the picture and there is nothing you can do to stop the TV from doing it.
What you can do is to replace the picture that's being cut off with a black border. That way the TV will cut off the border and your subtitles won't be chopped. TMPGEnc can do this if you have it. -
It's pretty straightforward. What you need to do is to set the video arrange method in the TMPGEnc Advanced tab to "Center Custom Size" and then enter in a value that is 16 less than the resolution of your video. So 720x480 would become 704x464. Make sure that you keep the size in the video tab unchanged.
Encode and now you will have a black border around your video which should keep your subs on the screen.
