I have an ntsc DVD image that doesn't have a file type or suffix. I'm not sure if it's an .img, .iso, or whatever. VLC plays back the movie content just fine, but it's not recognized by Toast as a burnable DVD image file. Instead, I get "Toast could not detect the format of [file]. Click Continue if you are sure it is a valid disc image."

Then, it offers a dialog with a sector selection menu. No matter what I select, it always describes the resulting file as a 4.3 GB CD-ROM XA.

    Any ideas?

Apparently you are able to mount the disc image in order to play its contents. If that is the case, then mount the image file and drag the enclosed VIDEO_TS folder to the Toast Data tab (after you first select New Disc in Toast). Add an empty AUDIO_TS folder and click burn.

that should work just fine if

or you can attempt to add extensions

    .img
    .dmg

etc, until you get toast to find one. Thing is does it open dvd player when you mount the image? if not then its not a proper dvd image [assuming you have auto launch dvdplayer activated] and you will HAVE to do it the way above

I'm unable to mount the image, but VLC still plays it. Basically, it's just a file with no .dmg, .img, .iso, no nothing, but for someone reason it's still watchable with both VLC and Mplayer.

I've tried adding every file extension I can think of and Toast refuses to recognize the DVD image.

Interesting. What happens when you drag the file into the Toast Video tab? If the video appears, click the Edit button and read the description of the video file.

Here's what happens when I drop the DVD image file (with no extension) on Toast 6.0.5's Video pane:

"[file] is an unsupported format and cannot be imported."

It's a 4.3 GB file, and it has "DVD" in the filename so I'm fairly certain it's a DVD image. The statistics in VideoLan show the video as MPEG-2. I'm trying to be discrete here so as to not violate forum rules ... It came from Usenet.

Have you tried changing the file extension to .iso or .img and then dragging it to toast?

Could it be some freak PC-image? Created with Nero, for example?
