This is my biggest beef about these programs. You spend extra time ensuring you have a compliant file and you use a top quality encoder to get it, then you give the file over to some $99 program to author it and it re-renders it and ruins your file....I hate this.
Does anyone know a program that has all the functions such as menus, motion buttons etc etc, but that will not re-encode your material, or has an option to turn it off.
Any suggestions appreciated.
thx.

Hello,
Ulead dvd factory won't. If its dvd compliant it won't touch it. It's pretty fast too.

If I am not mistaken I believe that most if not all authoring software has some sort of box you can tick to indicate that you don't want it to re-encode already compliant files
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. -
Tmpgenc DVD Author is cheap(ish) and is getting more powerful with every version, and it wont alter your video files in any way.
Most DVD Authoring Packages have trial versions available, so do some downloading and try them out. -

Hello,
Thanks, it's been mentioned in the dvd shrink problem topic thread.
I appreciate the answer.
I'll try to dig up some odd ball comedy quotes for later.

By the way, if it's so bad, why do you know the quote?? HMM???
Kevin
P.S. Weird Al has to be the most underrated entertainment artist out there. He's the best. I've got most of his cds, videos, and I saw him in concert last year. Got to love him (not that much of course, in the admiration aspect I mean)

Spruce DVD Maestro.
It doesn't render cause it doesn't have this capability :P
If the file is compliant, it accepts it; if it isn't, go and find a way by yourself to make it compliant - Maestro WON'T make it for you :P :P
Ulead DVD workshop also won't re-render SINCE you unclick the "convert to project template" option;

The 3 MPEG-2 files were rendered by VideoStudio 8 and appear to be error-free. When I click "Output" in Movie Factory 3 Disc Creator to start the burning process, it attempted to convert all 7 video files even though the "do not convert compliant MPEG files" box is checked. The 4 WMV files were successfully converted to MPEG. However, the 3 original MPEG files created by VideoStudio were strangely converted into audio-only MPA files which led to a lengthy error message and termination of the burn process. Please help!
I use XP Home, Service Pack 2. Radeon 9800 Pro.
P.S. Please dumb down your responses to a beginner's level so that I can follow your advice! Many thanks. -
Not that this should make a difference but why not use VS8 to author?
