2x speed here. I can wait the extra 15 minutes to have just a tad bit more reliability
-
2x media at 2x - duh
4x media at 4x - duh
(even on an 8x burner)
Haven't tried 8x media - 4x is pretty easy to come by, and cheap enough. I buy 2x media when the have stuff on sale.
I'm just not much of a rebel.... -
How about using some proper english, such as:
At which speed do you burn DVDs?
Answer: At the speed the media supports, limited by my burners 4x capability, (BFD!)

Arita 4X DVD+R (Ricoh) @ 6X
Platinum 8X DVD+R (Ricoh) @ 8x
Platinum 4X DVD+R (Ritek) @ 2.4X because if burned @ 4X, playback is choppy. -
On my Nec 1300A's My 4x Platinum only burn at 2x. Surprisingly, my 1x printables (no brand on container) also burn at 2x.

4X media burned at 4X, otherwise why have a 4X burner in the first place?
-
I usually burn one notch less than max. speed
So if the media is 4x...I'll write it at 2x
2x media - 1x
I can get away with writing at max speed...but I'd rather play it safe
That I do my burning on another computer, the extra wait doesn't bother me much.
FWIW, I never had a bad burn (at any speed) -

Therefore
4x at 4x
2x at 2x
1x at 1x
Rated speed of media, at max ability of the burner.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
