  2. Nope, you should have no problems. It shouldn't even need this, but have you opened the dvd in Dvd Player first to make sure the Video_TS folder is intact?

Ask yourself a few questions (keep in mind I don't know how advanced you are)
Do you have enough disk space? Is your copy of MTR current? Is the VIDEO_TS foldet intact?

If all is going well, you may need to run some normal maintinence (Macjanitor/ trash prefs ect.) Then try again- Peace and good luck

    other questions to ask:

    1. Does the DVD play in DVD Player?
    2. Is the DVD itself physically DIRTY?
    Fingerprints, smudges, scratches...?
    3. Did I remember to set the RCE?

if #1 is yes, proceed to #2
if #2 is yes, Clean the disc first
using "Galactica's Soap Trick" search the forum.
    if #3, set the RCE.

I just did "Never Die Alone" I bought to give a copy to my brother
to watch, and it is dual layer ( widescreen/Fullscreen),
    and MTR worked fine.

  5. Also, I do think you are running really, really low on HD space. That definitely can have something to do with it- Try burning off some space, move some files around and burn them off. Even if it doesn't work, you really need that space for OSX to operate properly (My apple buddies told me that OSX works flawlessly if there is over 20% of your HD space free to do what it needs.
Noted was 90% of the problems they recieve are directly related to people not alloing enough space on their HD. (It may not be it though, but a good start) and I'd erase MTR and Put on the newest copy anyway... why not, maybe yours got corrupted somehow.

  7. i don't think it's the HD space as i've copied larger discs than this one........i think it may have to do with my biege G3 not being able to set the region code as i am not able to use apples dvd player, i took the disc to work and was able to copy it on one of the G5's....is there a work around for setting the region code?

which movie is it? By double sided i think of those disks where you have to flip the movie over for either widescreen or fullscreen [sometimes to continue the movie]

is that what you mean? Or are you simply saying its a dvd-9?

Certain DVD drives (especially certain Matshita PowerBook models) will not rip DVDs from other regions unless you install RPC1 (region-free) firmware. You'll need to install that first in order to rip DVDs from other regions. Also be aware that DVDs from Europe are usually in PAL color format, and won't play on many DVD players and TV sets in countries that use NTSC like the US. If you tell us what DVD drive model you have at home, we might be able to point you to some RPC1 firmware for it.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

Thanks for the chuckle. Miserable is the time you're having doing this, Les Miserables is the movie title. What an absolutely perfect typo.
