  1. Hey,

I have some MJPEG vids that I'm trying to open in VDub. They used to open fine as VDub would use its internal MJPEG codec. Though after installing the Panasonic DV codec, VDub is not opening my MJPEG files anymore. It gives an error: "the source image format is not acceptable" and returns -2 for an error code. I then look at the file properties and it lists "Panasonic DV" for the decompressor. Just wondering how I can fix this. I tried uninstalling the Panasonic DV codec though Windows multimedia settings and it still lists the Panny DV codec as the decompressor. Any ideas short of reinstalling Windows.

"system restore" if you are running XP, that should do it.

Files > Programs > Assesories > system tools > System Restore.

Then pick the day BEFORE you installed the Panasonic Codec.

  3. I run Win2K. Guess I should have mentioned that. My bad. I guess I was also hoping for a more direct solution. I appreciate the suggestion though. Maybe I need to find a VDub expert. Any other ideas?

  4. Myoung,
if you don't have installed any other mjpg codec into your system, install the PICVIDEO codec which will be automatically assigned as the primary mjpg codec (if not, then you'll have to set it manually as the primary codec). After that i believe that you will not have any problems viewing your mjpg clips.

  5. Thanks! I'll give that a try. I also see that I can just frameserve to VDub using AVISynth and DirectShow, though that's not much of a solution.
