  1. Will Mpeg VCR do it? If not, what other program is the best to use for joining two mpeg2 movies and that will keep the same source quality in the final video?
    Thanks.

mpeg vcr by womble has worked better for me than using tmpgenc to join mpeg file. Tmpgenc would sometimes create audio sync problems after the place the film was joined. I have yet to have any problems with womble.

  4. freebird, can you briefly explain the procedure with mpeg vcr? I've used mpeg vcr before to cut commercials out of captured tv, but never to join two different mpeg2 movies.

Use the COPY button on the opened window of the first piece.
It will show on the clipboard in Womble.
Have the second piece window open.
Make sure the needle marker is on the timeline at the place where you want to drop in the new footage to be added to the second timeline.
In this case, it'll be the beginning.
Drag the first piece from the clipboard to the second piece window. Drop it.
A new window will appear asking you is you're sure. It'll have a visual of the addition being made to the timeline (may not always look right).
OK it and the new (first) piece will add to the second piece timeline.
Be sure when saving to select the entire timeline. By default only one piee is selected still.
