I have burn some VCD's using NERO 5.5, however, I find that when it comes to
playing them on PC's with DVD sofeware the results are mixed.

Is is not that the various applications I tried can't play the DAT files,
but, that they have very difference results when it comes to playing the
    VCD's Menu.

When starting WinDVD go right to the menu and awaits your imput to what you
    want to watch.

While PowerDVD will goto the menu, then after a few seconds starts playing
the 2ed video on the disk. All the time displaying it as the 1st video. The
only way to get to the first video is to press the 1 button on the keypad
(which is hidden) during the few seconds that the menu is on the screen. Or
to stop the first video and then click on the previous button. And this
happen even if PowerDVD's autorun command is off or on and you manually
    press play.

In Cimemahotograph the menu is skiped and the program go right into playing
the first video (it's author wrote back that his application can't support
VCD menus since he can't get the command to place into it to have it read
    VCD menus).

And to top it off, the DVD application used on SONY computers don't even
    play the VCD at all.

I just want to know is this a problem with NERO's way of making a VCD menu,
or is it a problem with-in each DVD application?

And is there a way around it?

  2. It's the way nero makes its menus. Use TSCV instead, or maybe that one by Ulead (havent tried it myself)

I was thinking if there is a way to get NERO to "burn" into its payback files a command to delay the time between the Menu appears and a video starts?

For the real problem in using PowerDVD is that you only have 5 seconds to choose your video before it goes to auto play.

Is this something Nero can do?

Or is it a function of the playback software

P.S. I have tried to use TSCV and the other methods of menu making, but, even to this college grad it did not make any sense.
