  1. I have the TMPGEnc program and I have discovered how to use its "Merge and Cut" functions (under MPEG Tools) to accomplish basic editing and joining of MPG files. I would like to be able to do similar basic editing/joining of .wmv, .mov, and Real Media files. Am I correct in my belief that TMPGEnc cannot edit these file types (unless they are converted to .mpg)?

I am aware that the Quick Time Pro program can edit/join .mov files, though the description of these functions on their website made me think that they may be considerably more cumbersome than the TMPGEnc MPEG tools when working with mutliple files. True?

I have read in other forum posts that the freeware Virtual Dub program can do virtually everything, including editing, joining, and converting .mov and .rm files to other formats. The description of this program in the tools section of this website does not list all of these functions, however. Can someone clarify whether Virtual Dub can really edit and join all types of video files?

I would welcome any other informed suggestions!

    Regards,

    Hello,
Why don't you try it and find out?? I've only used it a few times for divx stuff. Be warned virtualdub can be a bit overwhelming for newbies.
