  1. Hi.

I decided to open this new post as an alert for dumb users like myself, who think they can play with the big boys. We can't.

In this other thread, I explained I couldn't play MPG files even though AVICodec says I should be able to.

Well, I guess I know what happened. I used AnalogX DXMan and... well, I deleted some stuff incorrectly.

Now I don't know what to do.

Look, the following stuff is what DXMan says "Doesn't exist" in my PC right now:

    MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
    MPEG-2 Splitter
    Mpeg4 Decoder DMO
    Mpeg43 Decoder DMO
    Mpeg4s Decoder DMO

    NetShow Theater Source Filter (QNSPRO.DLL)

    ShotBoundaryDet (WMMFILT.DLL)

Windows Media Pad VU Data Grabber (WMMFILT.DLL)

    WMAudio Decoder DMO
    WMplug (WTWMPLUG.AX)
    WMVScreen Decoder DMO
    WMVVideo Decoder DMO

I guess the MPEG-2 ones are the ones who stop me from playing MPG files. What can I do? SOmeone help me, please!!!!!!!!

try reinstalling windows media player, directx and maybe internet explorer. that should bring back most of the stuff you can remove with dxman but shouldnt.

  3. Thanks, bondiablo!

Fortunately, it was much simpler than that: I found that my messing up with DXMan f*cked up with my MPG-2 Decoders. So I uninstalled them and reinstalled aftewards.

And everything went back to normal!

By the way, I got rid of DXMan - it's too dangerous for dumbasses like myself.
