    Okay, I know how to copy dvd to dvd on my computer, how do I get around copying a vhs tape which I may add is not the original to my panny 80 hard drive or a dvdr?? I keep getting the "this is not allowed crap"

    You need a TBC, "clarifier", enhancer, etc.

    Something to defeat VHS copy protection.

    There is another way, try.
    VHS => TV(home theather) -> Monitor out -> video capture -> HD.
