  1. Hello, so sorry if this is answered but I simply can't find the answer.

I have a Sony Handycam Digital 8 camera and FINALLY put FIREWIRE on my computer (add on card) and went to winXP Now I'm set!

I also have NERO for burning DVDs and started playing with Microsoft Movie Maker (people seem to like it and it is free).

What I can't seem to figure out is how to get from the "file" to DVD (Video_ts) format? WMM2 (windows movie maker 2) appears to let you either create AVI files or WMA files that contain both the video and audio. The AVI file gets created when you choose the BEST quality which is what you would want for a DVD, ok......

So how do I get from AVI to DVD? Can you do it with what I have? Do I need something else to supliment what I have? People throw out all kinds of other software (RecordNOW, SONIC, Roxio, etc) but I really want the cleanest way using Nero (if possible) without having to install/use all kinds of other STUFF.

    Thanks so much
    Alan

    Following this guide: https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=566

    You will need these tools:
    TMPGEnc, TMPGEnc DVD Author, WinDV

You will also need Panasonic DV codec installed.

If you already have some AVI files you could covert them to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc. Then, author your DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author. When you are done, just burn the DVD. Check the guides for details https://www.videohelp.com/guides

  3. Thanks so much for the reply and I will go through the document. However I did make some progress.....

What I was after was a nice clean easy way to do the capture to DVD without having to use 1/2 dozen "tools". I mentioned I have NERO and was hoping there was a way to do it with that which I just hadn't figured out.

This was the case.... Using NERO Vision you can capture and then using NERO Vision again you can simply use what you have captured and burn a DVD. You can either add all the fancy backgrounds and menues and titles if you want, or not. It does all the capture and converting and creating, etc to build the DVD structures.

    Thanks
