  1. I want to burn a 1hour29min49sec mpeg2 video to DVD5 and I used the VideoHelp Bitrate Calculator (https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm) with Audio Bitrate of 224kbit/s, it yields a Calculated Bitrate of 6561Kbit/s and a DVD Max Bitrate of 9570kbit/s.
So in case I use CBR, what bitrate value should I place in the encoder?
And if I use VBR 2-pass, what Video Bitrate, Max.Bitrate and Min Bitrate values should I indicate?
    Thanks.
(I'm using Canopus Procoder 2 to encode to DVD folder)

  3. The 6500 value you indicate for VBR is the average, min or max? Can you specify values for each of these 3 parameters before I pass out? Thanks.

Min / Avg / Max is a user defined number. The bigger the range the better the VBR (to a point)

Personally, if I was to do a 90 mpeg2 I would do something like :

min 1800 / avg 6500 / max 8500 . That is based on my experiments with my DV camera.

6500 would be overkill on a VHS capture but right on for a mpeg2 from a high(er) quality source such as a DVD.

Others may prefer a lower min or a higher max - each to their own. Experiment yourself with short clips.

  5. I tested 4000/6500/8000 VBR and it generated a 5Gb VOB whereas a 6500 in CBR generated a 4.2Gb file...how come?
