i want to email my cv and some certificates to companies.
however i have read the bigger the size of email the longer it takes to send and sometimes they will be rejected if they are too big.
i've just bought a scanner and i'm getting to grips with it, obviously i want to send certificates in as good quality as possible without being too large.
it will be big engineering companies and employment agencies i'm sending to, do they all have good internet connection speeds?
i know that emails go up to about 14mb but i reckon this would coz a lot of problems for what i'm trying to do.
can anyone (possibly someone that works in personnel / human resourses) give me a rough idea of best size to send?
oh and btw my connection is 600k

I would email your cv and list the certificates - if they want to see scans of the certs, they will ask for them.
I would also try and keep the email to less than 100K (should be enough room for a few pages of text files).
many business have their servers configured to automatically reject large attachments or large mails. it's also a server-space consideration - some companies only allot x amount of space to each user account for email, you might clog them up by sending them something that's larger than 1Mb.- housepig

Most Corporate Email accounts have a cap of around 2 Megs
But it will vary from person to person -
If you have to absolutely send your certificates, try making them gif-pictures. No need to use 600dpi or 1200dpi or other high resolution, believe or not, even 72dpi or something similar (depending on software and scanner) gives good results on display and even when printed. One A4-page is then (usually) somewhere between 50-80kb (gif, 72dpi).
And remember, by doubling resolution, you get 4x file size. -
upload the file to Yahoo personal folder, it has a max capacity of 30 MB i think and its free...
and just email the link to your Yahoo personal folder where you uploaded your certificate...hacking the Net using typewriter :D -
Agreed.
Put your certificates on the web that the e-mail links to.
Rather than GIF though, I suggest that you use PNG.

thanks for replies
i think i'll just email cv and if they ask for certificates i'll email them, perhaps seperately or just post the bloody things!
not sure about the yahoo thing maybe they will think i'm a smart arse or maybe some companies would have bans on pc's accessing some sites?
