  2. Yes.

    err, no.

    Maybe.

Depending on the camera, it would either recognize the source as PAL, and capture it as PAL (25fps, 702*576), or do nothing at all, or capture in B&W or with a vertiacl rolling picture or ...

Why not try it and tell us what happened?

  3. why not capture to NTSC, edit it, and output it to PAL?

i did that for a family video that my mom needed to send over seas, and it worked great.

  4. Actually I cannot try since I have no such camcorder. Due to some reasons it is much easier for me to obtain NTSC camera, but I live in Eastern Europe, where mainly PAL system is used.

Please be reminded that DV transfer is not really a capture. Also, most camcorders are not dual mode (PAL and NTSC). That said, an NTSC camcorder will output NTSC, which you would transfer (not capture). Therefore your best option is to convert after the fact.

Does it mean that PAL source is transcoded in camcorder into NTSC?

I don't think so, an NTSC camcorder would expect to see NTSC coming in also.

What connection is between subj and european TV's? I know it, but I don't know if it is possible to capture PAL through NTSC digital camcorder. That's all.

I think you are right, but I would like to know exactly. Just academic interest (with possible practical consequences).[/b]

You'd really have to check the specs on the unit you're interested in.
