  1. Hi there,

i am having trouble converting Film Trailers MOVs to SVCD compliant MPG2 Vids. I have lots of Trailers from Apple like Ice Age, Star Wars EP II etc. and i would like to play them on my friends DVD Player and his 16:9 TV.
I use TMPGenc latest version to create MPG2 files with the appropriate project "Super Video-CD NTSCFilm (MPEG-2 480x480 23,976fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)" I also tried CBR, still doesnt work.
I also read the guide in here but it didnt help me.
When i try to open the movie with VirtualDub it says "MPEG Import Filter synchronization error" and WinonCD 3.8 PE complains that the MPG is not SVCD compliant.
    Thanks for helping a newbie.

  2. I should also add that i tried to extract the MOV to uncompressed AVI with QT Pro, and then converted it with TMPGenc but still the same error.

  3. MPG1 works fine with TMPGenc "Video-CD NTSCFilm (MPEG-1 352x240 23,976fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)"
    But the Quality sucks.

  4. Read this post https://www.videohelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=65310&forum=3 to find out how to convert MOV->AVI->S/VCD. Takes only <1> QTPlayer (Light not Pro,) <2> MOV2AVI (a tiny - only 80k - but great tool) & <3> TMPGenc to do it. TMPGenc loaded with QTReader couldn't convert, eg, Planet of the Apes (trailer, of course) to MPG but after using MOV2AVI had no problem whatsoever. Work with Ice Age 1 & 2. Have yet to find out about Star Wars' coz i don't have QTPro which is needed to view/download the trailers from Apple.com. How the quality of the SVCDs is like? O.. i wish all the movies in RM, AVI, etc format i can download from the net were in MOV!

BTW, MOV2AVI is believed to be actually the export engine from QTPro, coz its interactive mode has the same look as the QTPro export function. Too bad i don't have QTPro to dis/prove it. Hope someone who has QTPro will try it out & let this curious guy know.

P5freak you seem to have QTPro. In that case all you need to get quality SVCD is the right settings for converting the MOV to uncompressed AVI. Again, read the post mentioned above.
