Way two of saying-------I don't want it to be dvd format. I just want to burn as vcd or svcd on a dvd disc....

You cant... It has to be in DVD standard format... It pretty easy to do VCD to DVD... All you have to do it change to audio from 44.1 to 48.0. SVCD is a lot more complicated, and I found it easier to just convert the svcd to VCD...

What you ask is found in the GUIDES section. It's there. Look.
VCD on DVD and SVCD on DVD (non-DVD formats)

    Forget about that........
I encounter a problem with AVI converting.

I used Movie Maker from WINXP and it was looking good with the graphics, but somehow, when I convert it to vcd, svcd, or dvd format, the graphic is ugly.

Thats because movie maker sucks. use tmpgenc or mainconcept or cce as your encoder.

To answer the original question, yes. Just burn it as a data disc if all you want is to put them on a DVD.
