  1. I have 4 ISO image's of tutorial movies made with Macromedia Director I want to put on a single DVD. Is it possible to create a menu, so I can choose each one and view them from the DVD?

If the 4 iso files can fit on one dvd then you can burn them as data files and then mount the iso image files from the dvd with alcohol 120% or daemon tools or reauthor all the iso images by extracting the files.

  5. Virtual drive is nice idea! and will probably use, but I want to burn all the
iso's to a DVD disk, so I can use and view that way, other than
taking space up on my hard drive.

You are missing something. The previous post.

Burn the ISOs on a DVD as files. Then mount one FROM THE DVD
with Daemon. You then have a virtual drive with whatever was in the ISO

    Hello,
You could also turn the isos back to the video_ts folders and make a master one with tmpgenc dvd author or even dvdshrink I suppose (though dvdshrink won't make menus).

You can't do what you're asking without using a virtual disc, but that may be because I suspect you don't know what an iso is. An iso is an exact, bit-for-bit image of a single, physical disc. The only thing it's good for is creating copies of the disc image or mounting as a virtual drive. You can't "view" iso's like video. To accomplish what you want, you'll have to:

    1) Extract the video files from the iso disc images using Daemon Tools or Alcohol.
    2) Make sure the extracted video files are dvd compliant.
    3) Create a menu for your dvd, author, and burn using the tools of your choice.

Compressing 4 DVD's onto 1 disk will be pretty crappy quality. Here's how I would do it.

    1. Mount the images and extract the audio and video.
    2. Re-encode each to 1/4 the size.
    3. Author (create dvd structure with menu) and burn.

  12. Thanks Haloblack, at last someone is actually explaining something to me
like "mounting", and what an ISO is, like I knew what it was!
I think I'm getting somewhere now.

Now, like my first post Zippy, these iso's are roughly 300mb each in size, they are whatever you would like to call them "movie's", "Video's", etc
they where created using Macromedia Director, all they show is a
computer desktop with a program running on it and someone showing you with voice commentary how to use the program (these are tutorials). I dont want to compress or anything else.

SO if I burn all 4 of these iso's as is, to a single DVD, can I then use Daemon tools to view the said iso's when I place DVD in drive then? and for get the menu

Okay, let's back up a little. Just who are these videos intended for and where will they be used? If they're intended for an end-user who's going to take training of some kind then you're going to have them confused and annoyed by the time they start working. The two things we really need to know are:

    1) Will this disc be used in a DVD player or a computer?
    2) If it's meant to be used in a computer, then is the person operating it computer very skilled with it?

If your plan is to use a DVD player to watch these videos then you have no other choice than to use DVD compliant video, author a DVD with a menu, and (most importantly) make sure that the target DVD player will play burned DVD's.

If you're aiming at computer use then you can make a data DVD instead of a video DVD, but then we need to know just how easy this disc needs to be to use. You can just burn the iso's to the DVD but if you do then all you're going to have is a DVD that looks like...

    MYISO1.iso 300Mb
    MYISO2.iso 300Mb
    MYISO3.iso 300Mb
    MYISO4.iso 300Mb
This is fine and well but you need to remember that you can't "view" an iso file with Daemon Tools. Think of an iso file as a book. The book contains all the pages and words that make up the story you want to read but to actually read the story you have to open the book first! Same thing with an iso. To get at what's in it you have to open the iso - with Daemon Tools. Opening the iso is like using Explorer to see what's on your C: drive. It doesn't actually show you the movies, it just lets you see that the files are there. "Viewing" an iso with Daemon Tools will give you something like...

    Contents of MYISO#1.iso

    VideoIWantToWatch#1.mpg 112Mb
    VideoIWantToWatch#2.mpg 217Mb
    VideoIWantToWatch#3.mpg 98Mb
    GoatPornIAccidentallyIncluded 313Mb
...and if you double-click on any of the files inside then Daemon Tools will extract the file and call Media Player or whatever to view the mpg. So yes, you can use Daemon Tools to "view" the files but it involves a minute or so of mounting the image, directory-ing, and clicking to view the movie. Unless you have a compelling reason to keep these files as iso's then it would be much easier for the end user if you extracted the individual mpgs from the iso files and burned just the mpgs to your DVD. Then all they have to do is insert dvd, pick file, click and watch. No mounting, no other intermediate steps.

I'm not even sure what format Macromedia Director is.
Is it MPEG2 ? If not you have to find a way to re-encode
all of it if you want a DVD with a menu.

Yes, I think we all assumed that the iso is an image of a DVD that could be played in a DVD player. I suppose it could be a disk for use in a PC only. Mount one of your iso images with daemon tools, this will make the iso appear as a disk with a new drive letter on your PC, ex. d: or e: or f:. Tell us what is contained on that disk and we can try and tell you if you can combine several on one disk.

  16. Hi guys thanks for spending time on this. I should have explained better
    from the start I think.

These iso images are not what you call "film", these iso's are tutorials
made with Macromedia Director, teaching you how to use a program on a computer and will never be used in the DVD player under my TV, they are solely for use on a computer. When played there are controls for 'Play, Pause, Stop', etc on screen so it's not like a "movie" as such.

I actually have 6 cd's which I want to back-up on DVD, but I then want
to use the DVD instead, and tuck away the CD's for safe keeping.

So this is why I wanted a menu too.

I will try what you suggest later tonight Zippy!
