hey whats up?
I am running into an issue i could use some help on. I have 2 clips (both are mpeg2, one is from a dvd source, the other from my capture card), and what i planned to do was make a composite of the 2 clips into one film. The problem i have is that the capture card clip is interlaced and according to bitrate viewer the source from the dvd is progressive.
I do have tmpg but every method i have tried for encoding the interlaced clip, still has not resulted in an mpeg2 file (just doing the interlace one as its only 10mins, compared to the film which is 90) that when combined together (using womble mpeg2vcr) has made the second progressive clip play back smoothly.
whats more odd is the progressive clip has the upper field first (well both clips do) but if i select progressive anything in tmpg for encoding the interlaced clip, it gives the file the bottom field first (despite me saying to use the top)
is their anyway i can convert the interlace clip to successfully work together with the progressive clip?
the stats for the films are 720x480, 16x9 (which i encode the 4:3 to, that problem is already solved) and ntsc format. framerates are both 29.97, both have the upperfield

found a solution. I used tmpeg, entered my clip and kept the stats as usual (interlaced clip, top frame), however on the encode screen i said to encode it as non interlace (i know its a no no). At anyrate once it was done, i ran it in bitrate viewer and it still said the clip was now progressive, but bottom frame. I used womble, edited the 2 clips together and behold it now claimed the clip was top frame!!!-- burned onto a dvdrw and it played great--woooo
i used this method before and it caused problems, perhaps it was a glitch in the app or my pc acting weird, either way problem solved (knock on wood)
