I have several Formula One motor race .mpg files on my hard drive that are larger than 4.7g

How do I reduce them in size to record onto a DVD?

DVD Shrink does not recognise these files on my HDD.

Am I destined to be a loser at this DVD recording game?

    Hello,
You won't be a loser if you keep asking questions. You have to AUTHOR the mpg files first. Since they're so large I'm assuming they're dvd standard (ie 720x480 NTSC 48khz audio). Put the mpg files in a author program and make your menus, etc... Ignore file size warnings (unless if its larger than 9 gigs, won't work then). After you author it you'll get a video_ts folder anywhere from 5 to 8 gigs. Load that into your shrink program and shrink away. There will be some quality loss but if you recorded at a high level to begin with it shouldn't be terribly noticeable (unless you had poor signal reception if its a broadcast source).

    Thanks Kevin.

I'll give what you suggest a try tomorrow.

My recordings are in PAL format
