  1. And is it possible to download a movie onto your harddrive from a VCD, then convert it to MPEG2? thanks for your time.

  2. To copy a VCD/SVCD use a program like Nero or CloneCD to make a Disk-Copy.
    It's possible to rip the .dat from a VCD and re-encode it to MPEG2, but the quality will be exactly the same as the source. I wouldn't bother doing it. Let it rest on the VCD!.

    In fact re-encoding causes a quality decrease.
