I use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. I also use nero burning rom. I am making backup copies of my DVD TV series. What I want to know is if there is a DVD authoring software that will allow me to make a menu for the episodes. I don't care about motion menus or anything like that. I just want a menu to pick which episode to watch without having to just skip though one episode to get to the second. Nero Vision Express will let you make menus if you are making your own DVD from avi's or other non-DVD video files, but won't work with DVD files ripped with DVD Decrypter and done with DVD Shrink. I won't allow any compression so I only get 2 episodes per disc, but would like a menu. Anyone know how this can be done?

Are you sure? It seeems that NVE will accept almost anything (VOB, AVI, MPEG1/2) and allow you to merge, create chapter stops and menus. You can also change the bitrate to fit on a disc.

  4. You could try DVDAuthorGUI. It's free and should suffice for what you describe. It can take VOBs as you want to (as well as separate streams).

Another tool that takes VOBs is DVDlab (which is not free but it is cheap for its capability).

    Hope this helps.

    Ulead DVD Moviefactory

Haven't tried this method but I reckon it should work for you -

    1. When you rip with Decrypter rip as ONE big .VOB file (you can set this in the preferences somewhere).

    2. Load the .VOB into Moviefactory (or any other Authoring program that accepts .VOBs). I think it works in Nero also.

    3. Then trim the imported VOB - leaving just Episode 1 - save the trimmed vob as "Episode 1" or whatever name you want.

    4. Repeat step 4 for Episodes 2,3,4....etc.

    5. Create your menu !

    Hope this works,

    Moonstomp.
Just because you're nobody, doesn't mean that you're no good. Just because there's a reason, doesn't mean it's understood. It doesn't make it all right ! (The Specials)
