  1. I currently have a I/O Magic PC PVR PCI card that I use for video capture. I believe it uses a BT848 and is actually made by a different company (Pinnacle?).
Anyway, it came with PowerVCRII and it does some decent video capture. But I want to make SVCDs and P-VCRII doesn't have a 480x480 capture resolution. The next closest are 640x480 and 720x480. At those resolutions, it looks like I start dropping too many frames and the audio gets somewhat out of sync when I re-encode it.
I've been trying to get VirtualDub to work with my card, but no matter what I have tried, it keeps saying "No Capture Driver Available". Does VirtualDub work with WDM drivers, or do I have to install VFW drivers? If I do, can the 2 drivers reside in peace on Win98SE?

  2. virtualdub communicates to hardware thru vfw only. device drivers are device drivers....if you swap to vfw drivers they are vfw, not wdm

  3. You could replace the WDM drivers with VFW drivers to enable capture through Virtual Dub. I don't think you can have both WDM and VFW drivers installed at the same time however.
You could also try the iuVCR program from http://www.iulab.com/ with your WDM drivers. I'm pretty sure it allows for 480x480 capture for SVCD.
