  1. Hi,

After I remove the aspect ratio selection menu with IfoEdit and hit Play Movie button the disc loops back to the root menu or doesn't do anything.
Can you please advise how to "tell" the Play Movie button in the root menu to start playing the movie directly /without even going to the ratio selection menu/?
The other thing is sometimes the aspect ratio menu is part of the root menu vob file. Then what?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

I would imagine that it's movie-specific. Although MOST movies SHOULD go straight to the movie with little or no prompting (i.e. it's on Title1, Track1) many do not, have intermediate menus, or just stall on the menu.

So I doubt a "generic" way to do this would be easy to find. However, you could PROBABLY in general just link the "play movie" button to the same link as the "scene select" for the first scene points to... unless that is ALSO 'version' dependent.

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't know of a magical way to just do this. You might have to reauthor.

Its definitely movie specific, so there is no general way to do this. Go to the IFOEdit forum on doom9.net and read 2COOL's guide for this. Its definitely not a simple process.

That guide predates MenuEdit though I believe, so with that you may be able to do it more simply, but its still complicated. Off the top of my head, I'd use MenuEdit to change/add the post command of the aspect ratio menu to point to my movie. Then I'd use IFOEdit to change the playtime for the menu to 0 seconds. It won't display the menu but it will still follow the post command. Without trying it, I think it'd work for any DVD. If you just delete the aspect ratio menu then, if anything, I'd expect it to jump to the next menu in the VIDEO_Manager, which definitely won't get you to your movie.

  4. Here's the 2COOL guide on this matter. A little old with new tools coming out but the algorithm still works.
