tempgenc plus stops responding during conversion

I'm trying to convert an avi to mpg with tempgenc plus. Lately I can't do it and can't figure out what the problem is. The conversion goes smoothly with cucusoft avi to dvd but not tempgenc plus. The program just stops responding. No error message when I load the avi and start the process. It just sits there. I hit control alt delete to see what's going on and the xp window pops up saying that the program has stopped responding. Does anybody have a suggestion? I read the sticky about tempgenc but no answer there.

You did change the directshow priority to the top, right?

Thanks for the reply Zippy P. I finally figured out what the problem was and it is discussed in the sticky about tempgenc problems. This particular avi has ac3 audio which tempgenc evidently chokes on. Oh well, back to the school books.

I have experienced this myself - amazingly if you wait long enough it'll start encoding
