How-Dee!
A long time ago, I worked in a computer repair center. One day, we received a particularly scathing memo from Corporate Office stating that we could no longer threaten people with voiding their warranty if they chose to use generic printer ink in their Canon, Epson and HP printers. This memo was backed up by a 'disclaimer' in a tigerdirect.com catalog that said the right to use non-OEM ink was protected under a Federal Law that also dealt with copy machine toner and other consumables.
Is/Was there any validity to this memo? I never bothered to check, because ink and toner for my printers was always supplied by the Petty Cash fund, so I didn't care one way or another. But I read recently that the lifetime warranty on the Epson R200 print head is voided if generic ink is used. This would seem to contradict Ye Olde Corporate Hate-Mail, if it's true.
Thanks.![]()

Since the nozzles are built into the cartrides in the HP I would be more apt to use them vs an Epson that just uses replacement jugs o' ink.
If you have bad ink it could cause a problem with your Epson system where a HP you can just throw them away and get a 'new printer' by installing new cartridges.
Even though I have an HP I will buy HP inks .... I have heard other horror stories about leaking, bleading on paper, etc. -
Yes this actually went to court, I think it was Epson vs. ??? and they of course lost. That was back when Mediastreet was just getting going, if you check their news achives you might find some info (but that was 2 site design changes ago).
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
