  1. Hello,
My current DVD authoring software does not allow me to create motion menus...just stills. I have read numerous posts suggesting different programs that do motion menus (DVDLAB, TMPGEnc DVD Author, etc.) My question is how can I author my DVD in one piece of software and do the motion menu in another? Can I make the menu in DVDLAB (or whichever) and then add that to Pinnacle 8.7SE for final authoring? If someone could point me to a how-to guide that they know of it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. Creating a video for a motion menu is not really part of the authoring though several authoring tools can do it. The video can be created by any video editing tool, then imported into the authoring tool which will make a motion menu out of it.

Never used Pinnacle for authoring so I don't know if it can do it. But if you say it can't, then there's not much you can do about it. Look for another authoring tool.

Alternatively, if you must use Pinnacle for authoring, you can author just the movie with it and add the menus afterwards with DVD-Lab Pro. Here's a guide though it's not the most simple one:

    Hello,
Just a warning about making motion menus. It adds a large amount of processing time to author them. If your running on a sub 1ghz like I am it more than triples the time required (it was going take more than 4 hours to do a two hour movie with motion menus in tmpgenc dvd author).

Please ignore this message if you have a 2ghz or faster processor. It should be a minimal uptick in processing time for you. Have a nice day.

  4. Thanks Petar and Yoda...I appreciate your input.

I really like Pinnacle, but this SE version doesn't appear to support motion menus. I'm gonna try and muster through that guide for creating menus using DVD-Lab. lol

    Thanks again

  5. You could do this:

Author the DVD in Pinnacle, then import the VOB files into DVD-Lab and create the motion menus.
