Can someone please help me with my surround sound receiver?
It seems to be processing digital streams as analog. For instance, while watching DVDs encoded in Dolby Digital 5.1/ DTS 5.1 it says PCM on the display meaning it is reading an analog stream, so I cannot listen to the movie in Dolby Digital or DTS, instead I have to use the best analog program (Pro Logic II). Also, if I press the 5.1/6.1 button on my remote, I am supposed to cycle through Auto ; Matrix 6.1 ; and Off. However, Matrix 6.1 is not listed there!
I use a Sony Playsation 2 to watch DVDs, which I connect to my Yamaha HTR-5730 receiver with a Digital (Optical) cable. I connect the PS2 to my Television (because it is mono) with an RF switch, (in a week I'll have a 36 inch flat panel JVC television.)
Will upgrading my TV to one with A/V jacks solve the problem? Will using a regular DVD player instead of a PS2 solve it?
Please Help
Thanks!
Tony
