Prodisc problems with NEC 2500a

I have read ppl's varying results with prodisc media so i ordered a 50 pack from rima. Upon trying them I got the first 2 to work fine with no problems and after that I have had 7 either burn and skip all over the place or burn and have read errors on Nero's testing tool (buth they did play fine). I am usings herries firmware 1.07v2b5dl and Nero 6.0 (also tried RecordNow Max.) The disc are prodiscS03. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can try it would be really helpful. I have tried Taiyo Yudens and Maxells and have no issues with them so it might just be my drive just doesnt like the disc.

i've used the same prodisc 4x discs from Rima without issue on my NEC 2500a and same firmware. I do not however use Nero, I use DVD Decrypter to burn. Maybe you got a bad batch, BTW, this should really be in the MEDIA forum!

sorry about placing this question in the wrong forum, but i am new as far as posting on this site and didnt realize the mistake till after i did it. If there is a way to move it i would gladly do so, but i dont know how.

Oh no worries! I don't really care but I am sure a mod will move this. Did you try burning with the original firmware?

I bought a 50-pack of Matte Top Prodisc 4x DVD-R discs from SUPER MEDIA STORE a couple months ago and had nothing but problems with them on my NEC ND-1300A

The only way I get a good decent burn is to go at 2x instead of 4x and try to keep the disc at or under 4.1 GB which really blows.

I'm never buying them again at least not while I have this burner and I have no reason to upgrade until DVD-R DL comes out and works well unlike DVD+R DL which currently is a nightmare.

I mostly use 4x DVD-R from Tayio Yuden and Maxell and have no trouble. I even used some SONY 2x DVD-R media (some said MADE IN TAIWAN and some said MADE IN AUSTRIA) that was fine and the old MADE IN JAPAN TDK 2x DVD-R discs work fine.

So either my NEC ND-1300A doesn't like Prodisc or I got a bad batch.

I ordered 100 prodisc go3 +R. First one out of the cake box had 487 errors and I stopped the checking at that point.

Put the damn things back in their box and sent them back and got Ritik GO4.

I have burned Ritik, Imation, Verbatim with my NEC 2500 A without any problem BUT no luck with Prodisc.

Someone told me that the prodisc -R worked for them on their Pioneer burner but I have not tried the -R and do not plan to do so.

Stick with Ritik go4, Imation, and Verbatim and ;you will be Ok on your NEC.

By the way Imation 4x will burn at 6x on your nec 2500A but Verbatim and Ritik 4x will burn at 4x.

Thanks for all the help. I changed my version of Nero to 6.1.3.10 (i think thats it) and it seems to work fine now @ 2x,4x,6x and 8x goes to crap. I do feel however since i have burned at least 100 maxells and never had a issue i will not try to take the cheap way out again (lesson learned).

There is new update for Nero Ultra 6. 6.3.1.17 You can go to their website and download it. Download only packages 1, 2, & 4. Do not and I repeat Do Not download Package 3. It interfers with burning.

And some people wonder why other people (such as myself) think that NERO is a sad joke of a DVD burning program!

Don't knock it as it is a wonderful program. It is not the only program out there that has something that interfers with it. Case in hand DVDXCopy.

I prefer and use Recode 2 90 percent of the time along with Instant Copy 8, DVDShrink.

Evryone, don't be discouraged by FulciLives negative remark as this is truly just his opinion.
