  1. Ok I've been doing alot of VCDs and such but now I'm going into DVD. I have a DVD+RW drive with a DVD+RW. I have a .mov file (Quicktime) and am not sure what to do.

How do I convert the .mov file? And to what type?
What do I use to burn it on a DVD?
I don't want fancy menus or anything I just want it to play on the DVD player with the best quality and sound.

    Thanks

You could try EO Video. You would convert it to MPEG2. Check the DVD specifications to the left for particulars. If you want to put it in a DVD you will also need an authoring program.

  3. Thanks for replying redwudz! Ok so I convert the .mov file to .mpeg2 with the software you recommended. But I said I started DVD burning so I looked up what authoring is and it means giving you the ability to make it a menu right or is it wrong?

Simply put, authoring is putting your video and audio files into a DVD format. That includes menus and chapters, etc. Download a trial copy of TMPGEnc DVD Author and try it. It's one of the more popular authoring tools. It can also burn DVDs, as can Nero and others. You should spend a little time with the 'Guides' to the left, most all your questions will be answered there.
