Does anyone know of an easy way of having 2 separate videos merged so that one looks like it's transparent? I.e., having one video look like appear on top of another, but transparent so that you can see both at the same time.

If you have Premiere, put bottom video on track 1. Put top video on track 2. Go to the Effects pallet and set the opacity to the level you want.

Can't get any easier than that.

Any good video editor should let you do this.

Thanks for the heads-up! I was, however, looking for something under $100 (one of the software packages mentioned is $700...ouch!!).

If possible, freeware is always lovely.

Will Wax 2.0 do the job? I understand that it's fairly versatile for being freeware, but I wonder if anyone has utilized it in the manner that I'm suggesting.

    Thanks again.

    Good editing software costs money.
    Freeware doesn't do too much.

I would think so - Vegas will, and I'd be surprised if Opacity / Transparency would be one of the things they'd cut for the lite version...

download a trial and try it out.

as far as Wax, I just went through and I couldn't find any controls for opacity or transparency, so I'd say no.

Would you happen to know where I could download a trial of Screenblast? I could find a trial for Vegas, but not Screenblast.

    Hello,
Videowave does overlay also. I believe its from MGI. I'm sure it's been bought by somebody else since my 4.0 version. Look it up on an auction site. The older versions of any software is always cheaper (less functional but still works )

Well, Videowave DOES do overlay, but not what I was thinking. Videowave does cute things like balloons, or moving stars, that are transparent.

What I am trying to do is to overlay two distinctly different videos that I created. Videowave Version 6 does NOT do that.
