  1. How would you suggest doing this?
I know I saw it somewhere here but couldn't find it, so I am sorry for the repeat question.

    Thanks.

  2. If you want a relatively simple solution, you could try an all-in-one such as The Film Machine. Everything necessary is bundled in except the encoder, and it's close to a one-click deal. It works with Cinema Craft Encoder and TMPGEnc, probably another encoder or two, but I forget. The freeware encoder QuEnc would be another option, but The Film Machine developer hasn't worked out the bugs yet for using that. The option's there, but don't bother. Overall pretty slow.

If you're a bit more daring, DVD2SVCD will do it too, not quite as easy. Supposedly it'll work with QuEnc, but I haven't tried it, only CCE and TMPGEnc. Just download QSimv1 and point DVD2SVCD to the QSim exe in the TMPGEnc path. (QuEnc must be installed!) If you tie in the D2SRoBa plugin, it's quite fast, realtime or better, for CCE only.

Or look at the guides over <--- there. Others may have more suggestions to offer.

  3. Check in newbie connection, it's asked a lot there.

There are also several simple/quick programs out there, such as cuscosoft (sp?), winavi, nero vision express 2. All these programs usually don't produce as good quality as a traditional encoder would, so I hear. In tools there is a list of several of these programs. In guides there are also several guides if I'm not mistaken on conversion too.
    Blah, blah, blah

I've used NeroVision Express, BUT my files were of very good quality, sufficient resolution, AND the audio was CBR, not VBR. Otherwise you'll probably have to go with TMPGEnc, CCE, or some other program.

I would suggest writing to an RW or your hard drive and then check quality. Your most likely problem to come up will be the audio is out of sync, which is why you really can't use Nero if it has VBR.

If you use Nero to do the encoding, I do have a suggestion. If Nero pops up the message that the final project will not fit, tell it NOT to adjust the video quality, but rather write the project to the hard drive, then use dvdshrink to make it fit. I've found this way does a much better job. You will need more hard drive space, but you can fit about 3 hrs or so on a single sided dvd, and video quality will be not be bad at all.

  5. Hello, You can use Honestech MPEG ENCODER. It will convert avi, mpeg, vob, vcd, svcd, dvd, almost every format to whatever you want. Then I would burn it to dvdr with TMPGenc DVD Author or DVD X MAKER, or NERO. Hope this helps.
