I would like to burn VCDs and wondering if I need CD-R and CD-RW to do the job. I currently own panasonic CD-R?

That all depends on what your DVD player will read...I'm assuming you're wanting to make a VCD for your DVD player. Some players won't read either a Cdr or CdrW. Some will read both. If yours can read both, I suggest using a CdrW simply for testing purposes. That way you can find out what works best for you and not end up with a bunch of coasters. Look you player up on the DVD player list under "Other" on the left and go from there.

Thank you. I have Pioneer DV-434 DVD player. I will make VCDs from DVD, VCR and may be from Hi8 camera and wondering if my Panasonic CD-R can do that job. I will planning to make and sell VCDs

Well according to the list it will read all layer Cdrs so I don't see any problems. Best thing to do is try it.
