  1. I am shopping for my first digital camera and was wondering if
anyone would mind giving me some advice? I am looking at the Cannon
A75 and the Kodax DX7440 and the new Sony DSC-W1. They all are rated
good for picture quality but I want one that also takes pretty good
short videos. The Cannon records video in AVI the Kodak records in
Quicktime and the Sony in MPEG VX. I borrowed a friends Cannon and
took a bunch of short videos and put them all together using Movie
Maker and Sonic MYDVD then made a DVD and it came out pretty good.
So what I am wondering is, can anyone tell me which movie formate is
better? Is one better quality then the other? And which one is more
versital when editing in Windows based programs?
    Thanks, Val

I'd go with AVI personally, but you're probably not going to have as much room with that format would be my uninformed opinion.

AVI would be the most editable.

More importantly, buying a digital still camera to use for shoting video - editing - then burning to dvd is not very wise. You'll get much better quality with a dirt cheap digital camcorder than with the most expensive digital still camera. I have a nice Olympus that shoots nice 640 x 480 videos, but I wouldn't use them for anything other than email. For real videos, I use my digital camcorder only.
