Hello all,
I am at my wits end and I need some help from all of you. First the basic's...i have adell dimension 1.6 768megs of ram, 40 gig and separate 60 gig hard drive and using premiere 6.5.
I just finished 4 projects of making dance recitals 2 1/2 hours each. Al is fine with that I go and make 1 litlle 37 minute thing and i keep crashing. Sorry i am on 4 hours slep. This isteh probelm.
I have my poject. It's 37 minutes long. Has 4 titles at the begining and has a credit scroll at the end. Whenever I export to CCE or export to tape or export as an avi the program crashes. I have tried everything...i have rcaptured my prject, started a new project, did system restore to an earlier date to when it was working (which was only 3 days ago). I have tried everything but it still crashes. Has anyone heard of this problem or know what I can do to fix it. I am really desparate here. I ahve to get these jobs done this weekend. If anyone can assist me it would be greatly apprecaited. Thank you.
Marc

The only time I've ever experienced anything like that with Premiere 6.5, was when I installed Vegas to try it out. The Vegas install messed up Premiere and made it crash when I tried to render a video. I finally restored my system using a Ghost image I made before I installed Vegas. Everything went back to normal afterward. I never really liked Vegas anyway.
You may have installed a program or codec that messed up Premiere. You could try Re-installing Premiere. If that dosen't work, you may have to do a clean Windows install and start over. That would be the last resort. Did you try to export via the MainConcept encoder in Premiere 6.5?
I don't know what else to tell you, I'm using Premiere Pro now. Good Luck!Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........ -
Yes...i tried the mainconcept encoder as well. I've tried evrything including unistalling premiere and installing it again with no success. I've been to the adobe forum as well. NO response yet on the post. We'll see what happens. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know. thank you.

hey all,
I found a fix to the above problem and figured i would post it in case others have this problem.
Ok here you go...you have to go your pemini file...
c:\programfiles\adobe\prem60.ini
It's hard to find ....i passed 3 times but it's right in front of you. Double click it and it will open as a word pad document. at the very bottom skip a line and then copy and paste these 2 lines in. Just like they are.
[Override]
PreferDSCodecs=1
Save and restart Premiere. This will fix most problems with premiere. Especially crashes.

Nice find, maybe it will help with some of my premiere issues (which are probably codec related).
Glad it worked out for you!-mojo-
