PLextor px-712 working properly?

I just bought this dvd writer, and i need to know if the burning speeds that i'm getting are legit.
I just burnt an mp3 dvd, total of 2.5 gigs., on a memorex dvd-r 4 times .
It took 19 minutes. Does that sound right?
It took me 90 minutes last night to make a backup of the movie the matrix., on dvd+rw media.
I use nero and clone dvd.

Is that only the burn time? or are you counting the compress time as well? as part of the 90 minutes?

Problem solved
THe burner was defective.I got another one and now it takes me only 55 minutes to do it alll

I have a Plex 712A and it takes me 22 minutes to do it all.

55 minutes sounds fine, so long as you're including the time to rip/compress in that total.

If that's just the BURN time, you've still got problems.
